Playtest
Walk-Off 199X is a turn-based baseball roguelike deckbuilder drenched in neon static. Every game starts at the bottom of the 9th, and you have to walk it off to win. There will be a free playtest before release. That is what this page is for.
Step one
Wishlist on Steam →Steam mails you when the playtest and the game go live, so you do not have to remember I exist. Wishlists really help: they are what Steam looks at when deciding which upcoming games to put in front of people.
Step two, optional
Mailing list subscribers get first crack at the playtest, plus a development update roughly once a month. Again: no more than one email a month, nothing sold or shared with anyone, and an unsubscribe link in every single one.
What is the playtest?
A build of the game, sent out before release, so I can find out what is confusing, what is broken, and what is boring while there is still time to fix it. You play it, you tell me what you thought, I make the game better. There is no charge and there never will be.
What will I be playing?
A run takes about half an hour. You manage a roster of pinch hitters out of a 3D manager's office, buy card packs from a mail-order catalogue, and then go to bat in the bottom of the 9th, playing cards to bend the odds of every pitch. Win five games in a row and you take the World Series. There is more detail on the main page and a full breakdown of the terminology in the glossary.
